RRD welcomes Bruno Martini back to the ‘Family’
– Hello Bruno, welcome back to the team. For the few who still don’t know you can you present yourself ?
I live in Rovereto and my daily training is based in Lake Garda; since I was a child I always felt that windsurfing was a special adrenaline sport that I feel passionate about.
– We know you have practiced competitive skiing in the past. Tell us something more. What gives you adrenaline in both sports?
Until the age of 17 years I was an agonist skier, recently I have also completed the ski instructor course so to repay myself for all the effort spent on the glaciers. I am grateful to skiing because it gave me a strong training fund; the two sports (ski and windsurf) have some aspects in common in spite of the diversity of territory and climate. In fact in both of them you need to have sliding skills, you need to make the board/ski slide as fast as possible. In the end snow and water are the same elements but only on different state.
– What where your results in 2016 and what are your 2017 goals ?
2016: 14th Korea / 47th Fuerteventura / 22nd Danimarca / 6th Sylt.
2017: My goal for 2017 is to perform at 100% in every competition…..let’s see what this will bring.
– Tell us something about your return to RRD? What triggered you and how do the boards perform?
I always had an excellent relation with RRD. I consider it a great company and, when I’m there, I feel like at home. This year I came back and I think this decision was made because it was an interest for both parties. When I tried the boards I immediately liked them; the board that I prefer is the X-fire 129 Lts.
-RRD is working a lot on a windsurf hydrofoil; what do you think about this technology for the future of windsurfing? Have you already tried it?
Like all of the main players also RRD has to keep up and think about the future; I’m also curious about what hydrofoil will be in the near future. Honestly I have not tried it yet but I’ll do it soon…
– How do you prepare for the next season? Where will you train?
I will train in both Tenerife and Lanzarote.
– In addition to the water training do you also take care on physical preparation? What specifically?
I think that the physical training is very important. To explain myself I can tell you that in the past I was used to bike every day from Rovereto to Torbole (18 km distance) and back because I like the feeling of being free and not depend on anyone and at the same time I was training. I try to do as much as I can to stimulate my mind and body. My goal is to be ready to react properly in case of unexpected situations during competitions.
